Preparations are well under way for the launch of the festive season said Christmas in Queensferry’s Keith Giblett this week.
The red carpet will be rolled out for Santa Claus and Ferry Fair Queen Aisling McDonald next Thursday, November 28.
The event will kick off at Scotmid store on The Loan when Santa’s Sleigh procession, courtesy of Queensferry Rotary Club, will make its way to the stage adjacent to the Burgh Chambers.
Music and song will be provided by Queensferry Community Brass Band and local school pupils.
The climax of the event will be a fireworks display courtesy of Orocco Pier. This year’s slimmed down celebration should conclude by 6.45pm.
Mr Giblett said: ‘‘There’s no Christmas market this year. We have gone for a traditional community Christmas occasion, reverting to a short, snappy family event.’’
The setting for town’s Christmas tree, which has come in for criticism in the past, has been improved through spotlighting.
