Celebration is the theme for Linlithgow’s burgh band members who have just enjoyed one of the best seasons in their 55-year history. There have been record numbers at rehearsals and events for the main band, and its development wing, the LRB training band, received a silver award at the Scottish Concert Band Festival in Livingston last week.
2011 has also seen the training band make its marching debut at the two Deacons’ installations in June followed by a very successful fifth visit to West Lothian’s German twin district of Hochsauerlandkreis in July.
The programme for Sunday’s concert features seasonal fare of carols and Christmas songs including Sammy Cahn’s classic, ‘Let it Snow!’
There will also be new material for the band, including ‘Walking in the Air’ and ‘Mambo No. 5’. The training band will also perform some of their winning programme from the recent Concert Band Festival.
The Christmas concert starts at 7pm and entry is £5 on the door with free admission to all children under 12. The compere will be Bruce Jamieson, who will intersperse the programme with seasonal readings.
