the future’s bright, the future’s yellow for some local school pupils.
Children at Linlithgow Bridge Primary held a Big Yellow Friday and have raised a massive £2066.35 for the school’s charities, The Children’s Liver Disease Foundation and Sushita. During the day, pupils followed a sponsored ‘yellow brick road’ to the school hall where they had juice and yellow cupcakes donated by Sainsbury’s. The coffee morning was a great success and there was a yellow raffle with prizes donated by families, staff and friends. Barbuchlaw Mill Garden Centre provided yellow plants for buying and planting in the school grounds.
Anne Corr, head teacher, said: “We appreciated the support we have had from families, friends and local companies, all of which has made the day a resounding success. Two very worthwhile charities will benefit from the money raised.”
Technology firm Logica donated helium balloons for children to buy with prizes for the balloons which travelled furthest.
Managing director Martin Ewart said: “The Big Yellow Day and the balloon launch in particular, are fantastic and inspiring initiatives that galvanise the local community to support worthwhile causes together.”
