Linlithgow’s Burgh Beautiful has scooped an “outstanding” award – the highest rating possible – in Keep Scotland Beautiful’s It’s Your Neighbourhood competition.

Linlithgow Grange Rotary, River Forth Fisheries Trust with Linlithgow Angling Club and Transition Linlithgow all helped the effort, with each flower bed carrying a message.

Rotary flagged up Scottish Disability Sport on their bed at West Port while River Forth Fisheries Trust with Linlithgow Angling Club used the bed opposite St Peter’s Church to highlight their work in river cleaning and Transition Linlithgow used its bed at the Vennel to campaign for healthy eating of local produce.

The judge was impressed with the creative designs and plant choice within all the beds, the use of colour to highlight the various messages, and the “fun use of materials and structure” in Transition Linlithgow bed. He also commented that the beds had “tackled some large issues for environmental sustainability”.
