PUBLIC services union UNISON said this week that huge rises in directors’ pay and rewards showed that workers in public services are right to ballot for strike action to protect their pensions.

UNISON is balloting members for strike action to resist changes which will see the value of public sector pensions devalue by 15 per cent and impose crippling increases in pension contributions.

And, late last week, teaching unions threatened that their members would join the walk-out planned for November 30.
