POLICE are appealing for witnesses following the discovery of sectarian grafitti at St Mary’s RC Primary School in Gauze Road, Bo’ness.

The police were called in after pupils reported the scrawl on a school gatepost on May 9. Mrs Julie Hanlon, headteacher, said: ‘‘The grafitti was removed almost as soon as it was discovered. I believe it was the work of silly children but since it was the first time we have experienced this kind of thing we thought it best to contact the police. I wouldn’t care to repeat what was written but it was offensive and inappropriate for children to read.’’

Anyone with information should contact the police on 01786 456000.
