TRIPS to the top of the Forth Road Bridge to mark its 50th anniversary will be held over seven weekends next summer.
The sky high experience, part of the Forth Bridges Festival, is expected to cost around £50 for a two hour trip up the 165 metre towers.
A lift will take the visitors most of the way up the tower before completing the journey up a 12 metre ladder to the top. The tours will take place between July 19 and August 31, 2014.
Some tickets are to be allocated to tour operators but the majority of the 2014 trips will be sold to members of the public later this summer.
Exact plans for the festival have still to be finalised but a parade across the bridge is scheduled for Sunday, September 7, to avoid traffic implications. Other attractions include a flotilla on the Forth and a firework display.
A Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA) spokesman said: “The thinking is really to open up this opportunity to as many people as possible.”
