THE hugely popular naming process for the Forth Replacement Crossing could be replicated in Canada after attracting international interest.
Transport minister Keith Brown met with Canadian MP Brian Masse to share Scotland’s experience on the FRC project and specifically on the naming process adopted by Transport Scotland.
Mr Brown said: “The Forth Replacement Crossing is an exciting, iconic and economically vital project and there has been great international interest in the naming process. With their own new bridge across the Canadian-USA border due for completion in 2018, there is Canadian interest in how successful our naming process for the FRC has been in engaging the community and is keen to learn lessons from our experience.”
Mr Masse said afterwards: “The Scottish government has developed a model that has successfully engaged the public. It is my hope we can develop a similar process for our bridge.”
