Primary five from a Queensferry school clinched the top title in an online maths competition – beating off 164 other classes!

Echline Primary School pupils took part in the online competition run by Sumdog.com, a secure website which allows children to practice maths through a range of various game styles.

From November 21 to November 27, they competed as a class in a bid to earn as many points as possible.

More than 160 other classes from the Lothians entered the competition – that’s 1,898 students and 682,889 questions answered, for maths boffins out there!

After the week, the top performing primary five team headed up the league table, taking the coveted first place title.

Class teacher Jude Moir said: “I am so proud of everyone who worked exceptionally well as a team.

“The children are very excited to go forward to the national competition which started on December 5 and are hoping they will be successful in that too.”
