The 6th Bo’ness Brownies were fascinated to learn about the role of Bo’ness in the First World War during a Remembrance themed evening on November 11.
The group, which meets every Tuesday in Kinneil Primary School, heard about the sacrifices made by Bo’ness citizens as well as the background to why we wear poppies in November. They also had the chance to look at some war memorabilia from Bo’ness, brought in by local collector, Maria Ford.
Jackie Mitchell, one of the leaders of the Brownies said: “The girls were fascinated and engaged by the history of Bo’ness and the First World War. They were also asked to write a postcard, imagining that they were doing so from the trenches, and I was so impressed by how much thought they put into it”.
