Police warn that today’s service for the late former MP Tam Dalyell will spell traffic jams on Linlithgow High Street until mid-afternoon.

The service will coincide with the local school pick up time about 12.30pm, and meanwile there are roadworks ongoing near West Port.

Police advise anyone attending the service at St Michael’s who can do without their car to leave it at home and, if practical, consider walking to the church.

The same applies to parents heading for local schools at pick-up time.

A police spokesman added: “It’s a beautiful day out there”.
