ABSEILERS who raise cash for a worthy cause in Queensferry now have the chance to win a special trophy.
The quaich, sponsored by Queensferry Ambition, and named the Queensferry Ambition Abseil Challenge Trophy, will be given to the group or individual who raises the most cash for Queensferry Care during the Rotary Abseil event on Sunday, June 16.
Each year, Queensferry Care, which is based at The Haven on Burgess Road, has to raise in the region of £25,000 in addition to statutory funding from City of Edinburgh Council and the health board to survive. This additional cash is raised through many fundraising ventures such as the abseil or the Loony Dook.
A Queensferry Care spokesman said: “This initiative by Queensferry Ambition will make a significant difference to our ability to achieve our annual fundraising target and we are extremely grateful to Queensferry Ambition and its member organisations for their support and encouragement.”
While the trophy is open to entrants for the June 16 abseil, Queensferry Care is looking for people in the Journal and Gazette area to take part and support their work with older people in the Queensferry, Kirkliston, Ratho and Newbridge by signing up to the Forth Bridge’s two other abseils on May 19 and October 27.
