POLICE are investigating vandalism at Blackness Boating Club which has rocked the new committee who are trying to get the club back on course.
The club’s committee was elected at the annual general meeting in November under the leadership of Jennifer Craig, who is the first female and youngest commodore in the club’s 40 year history.
There have been several incidents of vandalism since December which resulted in newly-installed CCTV cameras being ripped out from the premises and graffiti on the walls which was described as ‘disgusting’. There was also a forced entry to the bar area. Entries on Facebook which offended some members were removed at the request of the police.
Police have confirmed that enquiries are continuing in their investigation into incidents at Blackness Boat Club in January. They are appealing for witnesses to contact the police on 01786 456000 or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Meantime the committee is working hard to get the club back on track and a spokesperson said: “The committee appreciates the members’ continued patience and support during this difficult time.”
