NOVEMBER is National Diabetes Month and pupils at Springfield Primary, LInlithgow, did their bit to raise around £3500 for research into the con dition.
A ‘‘Walk to Cure Diabetes’’ sponsored walk was organised by the family of P4 pupil Catriona McKellar who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last year and cash raised will go towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JRDF) which funds research into a cure for Type 1 which is permanent but can be treated.
Mum Hazel said: “The staff at Springfield have been very helpful since Catriona became ill and were pleased to support the walk as a whole school event.
‘‘Everyone wore something blue as this is the colour used worldwide to raise awareness of Type 1 which is an auto- immune disease.”
