Dancing days are over for the only night club in Linlithgow as the glitter ball has been switched on for the last time.
Code, part of the West Port Hotel, closed a few months ago as the building was due to be refurbishedbut it was due to re-open this month.
But this week clubbers received confirmation that Code would no longer be part of the town’s nightlife.
A spokesman for owner, Maclay Inns, said: “After many great nights at Code we can confirm its closure. We have lots of brilliant memories and we are sure there are many more to come as we launch our private event space, The Function Room, in its place.
“The Function Room will be available to book from August onwards and will make a great venue for private functions and celebrations. We’d like to thank our twitter followers for their prayers for Code and hope to see them back in the West Port and The Function Room soon.”
Code fans took to Facebook and Twitter to pray for the reopening of the club, but they were disappointed.
Anthony McLaughlin said: “It’s a disaster! Catastrophic for the upcoming adults of Linlithgow that will never get to witness a night in Code.” Kayleigh Brown added: “I had some great nights in Code. I always thought it was like going to a party rather than a club.”
The West Port Hotel re-opens at the end of August after renovation of the bar, restaurant and guest rooms, and 10 new jobs have been created in the process.
