Sir, – The committee of Preston Playgroup would like to thank all parents, children, volunteers, staff and committee members of Preston Playgroup past and present.
The playgroup would not have offered the service it has done to the children of Linlithgow if it hadn’t been for your support and input.
We would also like to thank the Round Table and local Rotary clubs who have helped us with grants as well as local businesses who have donated prizes for any fundraising initiatives.
St Ninian’s and Craigmailen Church were kind enough to offer us a home when we needed one - as did Linlithgow Bowling Club, on a temporary basis.
West Lothian Council has also been a key partner through the years by helping with grant funding and accommodation. We are very sad that such a long-standing group in our community is closing its doors and no longer providing a service and would urge everyone to support all existing groups and initiatives in the town. – Yours etc.,
on behalf of Preston Playgroup management committee
Sir, I want to thank everyone who supported Big Roman Week 2013.
Bigger and, hopefully, better than ever before, we stretched the “week” to nine days. We offered walks, talks, film shows and family events from Bo’ness to Bonnybridge.
Can I say a big thank you to Falkirk Council and Falkirk Community Trust for their support - as well as all the volunteers, staff, speakers, the media and others who made Big Roman Week such a success.
In particular I want to thank Councillor Adrian Mahoney, who gave up his time to help co-ordinate the festival and organised some of the publicity.
The Friends of Kinneil - behind Big Roman Week - will now be having a break but we’ll be back on Sunday, October 27, to open up Kinneil House, in association with Historic Scotland. You’ll find leaflets giving more information on this in local libraries. Details are also online at www.kinneil. org.uk
