LEFT overs from last year’s Linlithgow 10K are being enjoyed by football teams in Rwanda.
Around 100 10K t-shirts were taken to youngsters in the area of Kigali by Alan Goldie, a member at St John’s Evangelical Church in Linlithgow, last month.
He said: “In contact with my friend who is Bishop Louis Muvunyi, I established there was a great need for uniforms for their youth football teams and they could not afford to buy such clothing. The shirts were gratefully received and are being used by several teams.
“So the Linlithgow 10K is widely advertised throughout the area of Kigali in Rwanda!”
For the past number of years, a team from St John’s has gone to work in Kigali, Rwanda at The Mango Tree Church and at the Alpha Community Academy.
Alan, one of the team leaders, added: “I have been going out to Rwanda now for five years and my sixth visit was in February, to help them in whatever way we can. They were so grateful at this gift from the Linlithgow 10K organisers, and that it came at the right time for myself travelling out, and for their need for something to wear as a team.”
