WHILE Team GB have been storming the Olympic Games cycling medal table in Beijing this week, a little closer to home, Bo'ness were represented in the Scottish National Cycling Time Trial Championships.
The event, held in Forfar, saw 31 teams and over 140 riders take part, including an Edinburgh Road Club team made up of 31 year-old Neil Laing and 39 year-old John McComisky, both from Bo'ness.

It would be an achievement to even get to the finish of the 60km race, but the time team duo did just that in one hour 40 minutes, placing them 28th overall.

John who works in the cycle department at Halfords in Falkirk, said: "If someone had said to me two years ago I would be at the level of fitness to race against the top riders in the country I would have laughed.

"Cycling has changed the way I live and if I can do this then anyone can."

Neil is in the top six of the championship and John, a first year racer, is in the top 20 in a points table of over 80 competitors. For more details log on to: www.edinburghrc.co.uk

Although finishing 22nd and 20 mins behind the winners Doolys RT, team leader, Matthew Ball, was satisfied with the result

The West Lothian Clarion is the county's only cycling club and members compete in road races, time trails, sportives, track events and Audax.
