PUPILS at Springfield Primary School in Linlithgow had a swinging time learning the rudiments of golf.

A group of 10 P5 pupils has been taking lessons under the Trygolf initiative during the last two months.

Teacher Alexandra Gilles explained: "Trygolf was organised as an after-hours activity during May and June at which pupils were encouraged to try their hand at learning to play golf.
"It's been very successful and enjoyable."

Ju Jitsu Scotland recently held its inter-group ground fighting championship.

The event was well attended by IBU clubs from across Falkirk district.
A spokesman for Ju Jitsu Scotland said the standard of competition was very high.

Ju Jitsu Scotland trains in Bo'ness Recreation Centre on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

Winners at the Bo'ness United end of season dance included David Morrison, Journal & Gazette website and fans' player of the year, Scott Brown (top goalscorer); and Will Snowdon, players' player of the year.
