Following the success of last year, the Armadale ‘Run for Fun’ is back.
The run has been organised by West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership’s Together for Health project, the Do More Drink Less campaign and other partners as part of an approach to promote healthy lifestyle choices in the Armadale ward.
Jim Forrest, Director of West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) said: “The event welcomes local people of all ages to get their trainers on, and whatever their level of ability, to come and join in the fun on 6 May.
“Participants can walk, run or jog the five kilometre course or the mini two kilometre for families and buggies, so there really is something for everyone.”
To help participants prepare for the run there are free training sessions happening locally.
A beginners jogging group led by local resident and fitness teacher Marie-Claire Donnelly starts on March 29 at 7-8pm at Armadale Community Centre and will also run on a Saturday morning for six weeks.
For those looking for a gentler pace weekly walks for families will start on March 30 also leaving from the Community Centre at 2.30pm.
There will be spot prizes on the day and all runners will receive a medal and t-shirt to remember the day.
To register, entry forms are available in all Council facilities in Armadale or online at www.westlothianrun.co.uk. There is a nominal entry fee with a special rate for families.
