THE Highland Fling is not just a dance - it’s a 53 mile ultra-marathon where competitors race along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum.
With around 4000ft of ascent over a mix of roads, drove roads and tracks of varying conditions, this is a tough physical and mental challenge that requires months of preparation.
Although there were 593 individual entrants, significantly fewer completed the course. Congratulations to the three Linlithgow AC members who successfully completed the race last Saturday. First home for the club was Johan Meintjies who was 202nd in a time of 11 hours 43 minutes. Malcolm Hughes finished in 229th position with a time of 11 hours 57 minutes, and Graeme Lawson was 305th in 12 hours 59 minutes.
*Grangemouth stadium hosted the Forth Valley League meeting on Saturday, with a number of the LAC junior athletes participating.
