Young footballers from Bo’ness are gearing up for a top quality coaching course courtesy of crack Spanish football side Valencia.

Thanks to a bumper grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme of £9814, Bo’ness United Community Football Club has arranged for six community coaches from Valencia to deliver two days of skills and life coaching to 90 boys and girls on July 28 and 29.

The club, which has 180 youngsters aged 3-16 years playing for its 15 teams, has also purchased three sets of goals and other training aids.

‘‘We’re very excited about the visit of the Valencia coaches,’’ said club co-ordinator Jennifer Brown.

‘‘We were unsure at first if we could make it work but within two hours of putting out at text message to members we were inundated with requests to participate. Fortunately we have been able to accommodate everyone who wanted a place.’’

As well as two days’ coaching for the children the Valencia team will take a session with the club’s own coaches .

‘‘We’re grateful to Bo-Net for putting us in touch with The Awards for All scheme,’’ said Jennifer.
