A Linlithgow teenager has been selected to play for the national side at football.

Jack Adamson, (15) a third year pupil at Linlithgow Academy has just returned from a Scotland under 15 training camp in Turkey.

The young footballer started playing with Baillielands FC at just five years old and by the time he reached secondary age, he was captain of the the Academy S1 side and had represented West Lothian Schools too.

His talent was noticed by Hibernian FC and he signed with them in March 2011.

In late 2012, Jack, who plays as a striker, was asked to attend national trials for Scotland and these continued throughout 2013.

And just two weeks ago he travelled to Antalya with footballers from clubs across the UK to take part in an International Camp competing against Norway, Denmark and Azerbaijan.

Jack said of his achievement: ‘‘It was a fantastic experience and a great honour to play for Scotland. The training camp was very disciplined and the conditions difficult in the heat but I enjoyed every minute.’’

The year ahead will be a major step for Jack as he looks to secure a full-time contract with the Scottish Premiership side.

Bill Hendry, head of youth development at Hibernian said: ‘‘The club is delighted and proud that Jack has gained recognition with the national squad at U15 level.

“He continues to develop well at Hibernian FC and we hope that the experiences he has gained from the trip to Turkey will stand him in good stead over the coming seasons.’’
