Amateur side Linlithgow Thistle head for Fife this Saturday knowing they are just two matches away from a dream date at Hampden.

The club, which had never gone beyond the fourth round of the competition before this season, booked their place in the quarter-finals with a dramatic win on penalties in their seventh round replay against Dennistoun Vale last Saturday.

The first match with the Glasgow side at Linlithgow the week before ended 3-3 and it was the same score at Denniston in the replay, Sean Smith (2) and Billy Bauros netting the Thistle goals.

Thistle were ahead three times, twice in normal time and once in extra-time, but were pegged back each time with the third equaliser coming in the final minute.

However Thistle kept their nerve to win the shootout 5-4, Smith netting the decisive score, and book a quarter-final with Fife side Leven United this Saturday. There are a few bus seats left for supporters wishing to travel - for details phone Derek Oliver on 07802 758333.

The winners will play Oban Saints or Ayr side Shortlees in the semi-final at New Douglas Park, Hamilton. The final itself returns to its traditional Hampden home after an absence of several years and is on Sunday, May 22.
