FOR the first time in its 99-year history Linlithgow Golf Club has stopped charging a one-off entry fee for new members. The decision was made by the club’s council this week.
Club captain Doug McEwan said: “This move is designed to encourage golfers within the Linlithgowshire area to consider Linlithgow as their club of choice. Most of the other clubs within our area have suspended their entry fees and we felt that in the current economic situation we had to become more competitive.”
At the club’s recent AGM the annual fee for full membership was set at £505 and in discussion, it was felt that the fees for junior and young adult members be set at a low rate, starting at £75 to £150.
