LINLITHGOW’S wheelchair tennis player Kevin Simpson reached the semi-finals of the Moscow IKAR Tournament last week.

The British number five seed’s 2011 season ended on the penultimate day of competition when he narrowly lost out in the men’s singles semi-finals and finished runner-up in the men’s doubles.

Simpson clinched a close first set in his singles semi-final against home favourite and third seed Leonid Shevchik, but Simpson was unable to get over the finishing line against the Russian number one and Shevchik eventually won 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-3.
