There was recent success for two of Linlithgow’s most promising young golfers as they finished first and second in the Stephen Gallacher Foundation’s Under 15 Order of Merit.

Andrew Benson (left), who plays at West Lothian Golf Club and Linlithgow Golf Club, came first in the Under 15 scratch order of merit while Charlie Yuille, who is a member of Linlithgow Golf Club, came second in both the scratch and handicap sections.

Starting in the summer holidays, the order of merit was decided over a total of 13 junior opens held at venues all across the Lothians.

The boys were recently presented with their prizes by European Tour professional Stephen Gallacher at his foundation’s season-ending finale at Dunbar GC.

This capped a fine season for both youngsters, with Andrew having already won the junior club championship at Linlithgow GC and seen his handicap fall to five, while Charlie’s sparkling form resulted in his handicap plummeting to six.
