Linlithgow Rose win Port clash

A BLUSTERY cross-field wind made life difficult for both teams in this Super League clash at the Canniepairt which saw Dave Baikie and his management team return to the ground where they achieved so much success.

Tayport 0

Linlithgow Rose 1

Tyrrell (63)

Linlithgow threatened first when a short corner caught Tayport napping and Mark Bradley's cross was glanced wide by Tommy Coyne.

After Donachie had been booked for pulling his shirt, Chris King fired in a free kick which was deflected into the side-netting. The resulting corner fell to Steven Manson on the edge of the box but his dipping volley was held by Ferrie.

Rose earned another set-piece when Manson was up-ended on the edge of the box by Gunnion. Despite Linlithgow protests that the foul was inside the box, the referee awarded a free kick. King's strike was cleared by a combination of goalkeeper and defender.

It wasn't all one-way traffic though and Russell's free kick caused difficulties for McPherson as it swirled in the wind.

Find out how the match played out in this week's Journal and Gazette, on sale on Friday, Augsut 27.
