COMMUNITY football in Linlithgow proved a table topper with a big win from the SFA last week.

Linlithgow Rose Community Football Club were presented with a Quality Mark Award for the Community - the highest level of attainment in the Scottish FA Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme.

Coach Billy Mc- Adam said: “We are very pleased.

‘‘It takes a couple of years to get to this level and it’s well worth it. I am very proud to be involved.”

The scheme awards clubs that include children, youths and girls, and encourage young talent to stay with the club through training and competition.

The Linlithgow club has grown significantly over the past few years with a large girl’s section, investment in training and coaching, a dedicated goalkeeping school, a refereeing initiative, and official links to Linlithgow Rose Football Club.

Billy added: “We have the biggest girl’s section in Scotland with 60 girls in three teams.

‘‘There are 400 boys from 5-18 years in 24 teams and we have 70-80 coaches who put so much time and effort into the club.

‘‘We want kids to get the most out of football and get them involved for longer.”

The award was presented to Dougie Gray and Lesley Blackburn by Rod Petrie (second vice-president of the SFA) and Mickey Weir (former Hibs Player) at Easter Road on Saturday.
