Lorna Smith of Linlithgow Bowling Club has written her own piece of history in the record book of Scottish bowls having added to her title wins by becoming the first ever back-to-back winner of the ladies’ national singles crown.

Smith (right) – born in the Seychelles and a star of South African bowls – has taken Scotland by storm since taking up residence five years ago and has confirmed her status as one of the top lady bowlers in the world.

Her 21-17 win over former cap Jane Telfer of Maxwellton in Sunday’s final at a packed Ayr Northfield was hard earned having been forced onto the back foot at 16-12 down.
