BO’NESS-TRAINED young gymnasts won gold and silver medals at the recent second annual sports development gynastics floor and vault competition in Falkirk’s Mariner Centre.
Organised by Falkirk Council Sports Development it involved children from the council’s recreational gym- nastics classes, like the evening ones held at Deanburn Primary for locals of all different schools.
They took part in teams of three or four against gymnasts from other classes and organiser and sports development officer Alistair Mitchell said: “The standard of competition was high with lots of enthusiasm being shown by the competitors.”
He added: “Both the Deanburn gymnasts and their coaches - Fiona MacKenzie and Zoe Butler - should be applauded.”
Around 80 gymnasts took part on the day, an increase on last year’s inaugural competition, and it’s hoped this trend will continue, with the event becoming even bigger and better next time.
Results: Deanburn Mini-Me’s - Lori Grant, Lisa McInally, Charlotte Andress, Robyn Kilgallon - came second in the P1-3 category; Deanburn Dynamite - Ben Hendry, Caitlin Evans, Caroline Cook, Estelle Andress - were second in the P4-5s, and Deanburn Guys and Dolls - Kenneth Osborne, Lauren Blaney, Hayleigh Templeton - were fourth; Deanburn Rocks - Rebecca Corner, Rebecca Townsend, Qaila Sarwar - topped the P6-7 group, and a Deanburn and Denny combined team - including Deanburn’s Sabrina Barlow and Morgan Taylor - came fourth in the S1-6 section.
