Monica Anderson is on a high after being called up to the TSB Scotland under-15 schoolgirls squad for the Bob Docherty Cup in April.
The 14-year-old from Torphichen impressed coaches during the trials which culminated in a regional tournament at Toryglen in Glasgow.
Anderson, who plays as a striker for Glasgow City, holds Brazil star Kaka as her idol.
The Scotland team will battle with England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and an invitational team from Slovakia over four days at Repton School, Derbyshire, in April.
And after earning a call-up, Anderson admits all her hard work is paying off.
“My family have given me a lot of support by coming to all my matches and cheering me on,” she said.
“I was quite surprised when I got the call because I didn’t think I would get in.
“It’s really good to know now that I’m good enough to play at this level and it gives me more confidence on the pitch.”
TSB, proud partner of the Scottish Schools’ FA, is delighted to support the Scotland U15 girls squad for their 2014 campaign.
