West Lothian faced a testing challenge away to Stirling East at Larbert in their opening match but came through with flying colours.

Wins on four rinks was a satisfying outcome albeit three of them were single figure affairs.

The home side inflicted a single figure defeat on the WL rinks skipped by Grant Logan and Steven Fleming.

The middle phase was the match winner for West Lothian as they dominated it 50-24 in contrast to losing the first and the third.

Ray Logan followed on from his high score at end 11 with counts of 1,2,4 to have Stuart Williamson at his 21-3 mercy and the rink’s 33-8 victory was the major influence on the outcome of the match..

Smith picked up from 5-8 to 15-8 with a run of 1,1,1,2,5 then skipped Drew Paterson, Andrew Semple and Walter McDougall to a 20-16 win.

Mann made good early headway to skip Paul Lynas, Scott McMaster and James Speirs into an 11-3 lead and clinched a 17-14 win.

McDougall celebrated a high moment at end 14 with a five to close to 18-19 then skipped Ewan Shearer, Peter Lynch and Gary Orr to a battling 25-23 win.

Grant Logan and his rink of Fraser Muirhead, David Lamb and Mark Allison slipped to a 17-11 defeat while Diz Drysdale, Alec Allan,
Stuart Johnston and Fleming lost 28-19.
