A fearsome foursome of fencers are ready to take on the best in the country at the UK School Games.

After an arduous selection process, Ross Manson, Callum MacKay, Jack Douglas (first reserve) and Maya Kamat were chosen from Linlithgow Academy Fencing Club to represent Scotland in their various disciplines.

It is the first time the group, all under 18, have competed at this level. Jack specialises in foil, Callum in epee, Ross in foil, and Maya is an epee expert.

Fellow fencer Calum de Sainte Croix has represented Scotland in previous years. He said: “The club wish them all the best and hope they all do well in their disciplines at the Games.”

The UK School Games run in Sheffield from September 12-15.

See the Journal and Gazette for how the fencers get on in the competition.
