Linlithgow brothers Ewan and Gordon Sneddon returned from Ayr victorious earlier this month after winning the SYBA Pairs Trophy at the SYBA National Finals.

Not content with being just semi-finalists like they were last year, the Ewan (15) and Gordon (17), who both play for Bellsburn Bowling Club went one stage further and fought off stiff competition from all the districts in Scotland to take the title.

Representing West Lothian junior pairs, the lads won four and drew one in their section before going on to win the semi-final.

The brothers, who were brought up in Linlithgow but now live in Grangemouth, triumphed over a formidable pair from Dalserf Bowling Club, Lanarkshire in the final to take the trophy.

In the past both Gordon and Ewan have won the West Lothian Champion and Champions Junior titles. This season marks the final year that Gordon will be able to compete in the junior ranks.

Jim Fleming, club secretary at Bellsburn Bowling Club said: ‘‘They are both talented bowlers and could go far if they continue in the sport.

“Both already compete with seniors at the club.’’

The lads are seen here with their trophy being presented by David Ferguson, Bowls Scotland Under 25s team manager.
