A second Linlithgow RFC player has won the prestigious ‘Try of the Month’ in a competition sponsored by RBS, Scottish Rugby’s league sponsors.

Ross Plenderleith, the Reds winger, scored a superb try against Preston Lodge at Mains Park on January 4.

He took the ball and cut inside two players to give himself a chance to use his speed to score next to the posts.

Last October, Adam Kelly, Ross’ team mate, a front-row player, also won the RBS ‘Try of the Month’.

Jon Blundell, Linlithgow’s director of rugby, said: “It was a special piece of individual skill that Ross executed. We are proud that two of our players have won this national recognition and the video footage has appeared on Scottish Rugby’s website for all to enjoy.

“Our supporters have seen some excellent tries from the Reds this season and we hope there are a few more to come in our remaining games.”

In acknowledging the award, 20-year old, Ross, who has played for the Reds since he joined their Minis Section, paid tribute to the Club’s ambitious plans and vision for future development of its facilities and to head coach Dale Lyon for encouraging the players to play with some freedom and to entertain their fans.

Ross won tickets to a Six Nations game and now goes forward to the ‘Try of the Season’ competition.
