Linlithgow Tennis Club mini tournament went off with a bang as loads of young players turned out for the occasion.

Among the trophy winners were Claire McKaig, pictured proudly holding the trophy, and in second place, Eleanor Cochran, both girls under-nine players.

Despite heavy downpours, club organisers praised the standard of play.

Tournament organiser Ella Ritchie said: “It was a fantastic weekend and rain didn’t dampen play at all.”

In the eight and under events, there were several close matches with Scott Morrison (Dunfermline) winning the boys event and Annie Webster (Kinnoul) winning the girls’ event.

Runners up were Nicholas Bradley (Kinnoul) and Eleanor Cochran (Strathgryffe).

The nine and under events were keenly contested with Joe Millier (Rubislaw) and Claire McKaig (David Lloyd Renfrew) coming out on top. The runners-up were Ivan Burt-Smith (Selkirk) and Eleanor Cochran (Strathgryffe).

In the 10 and under boys final Sam Ballantyne (Whitecraigs) beat Filip Jelen (Craiglockhart) 4-0, 4-1.

The girls played in a round robin event with Anna McBride (Dunfermline) winning all four matches to take the top spot and Sarah Gibb (Kippen) taking second place. The event was sponsored by Life Fit Wellness.
