Queensferry athlete Allan Smith has crowned a fantastic season by winning his first national high jump title at the Scottish Athletics Championships in Glasgow last weekend.
Allan (20) has now won both Scottish Athletics senior high jump championships indoors and outdoors.
He also set a Scottish native high jump record (2.22m whilst winning the Scottish Universities Championships and then increased that height to 2.23m whilst competing for a Commonwealth select team.
Allan also won silver at the European trials and UK senior athletics championships.
He was capped by UK Athletics at the Under 23 Championships and won bronze with a personal best leap of 2.26m.
He also broke into the elite athletics track and field circuit by competing in the Diamond League high jump event during the London Anniversary Games last month.
He said: “2013 was a real break through year for me in terms of my performances, athletics experiences and getting media recognition.’’
