Linlithgow Rugby Club has appointed Dale Lyon as their new head coach.
Dale played for Grangemouth First XV for 10 years before entering on a series of coaching posts at various clubs. These included a spell at Falkirk and Allan Glen’s in Glasgow before 10 years as the coach of Edinburgh University Rugby Club.
During his time with the University all of the student’s rugby teams achieved success. The Firsts reached Premier Three and won the National Shield at Murrayfield in 2009. Most recently, Dale coached at Hamilton who not only gained promotion to Scottish Rugby’s Premier Two division but reached fourth position to record their highest-ever league position.
Jon Blundell, the club’s director of rugby, said, “I am delighted to welcome Dale to the club. We have been able to bring to Mains Park a coach with a proven track record of success over a number of years at several clubs. We were particularly impressed by Dale’s work over the years with young players, as we at Linlithgow have a good record of bringing our players through the ranks of our youth section.”
Dale said that he was excited at taking up the new challenge, saying: “Linlithgow is an excellent rugby club at the heart of the community. I have been impressed by the set-up at Mains Park. The club’s ambitious plans for a new training facility show how seriously they take their rugby and how they want to keep building on its progress to date. I look forward to working with Jon and all the players to take Linlithgow Rugby Club forward.”
