Teams from Linlithgow and Springfield emerged triumphant at the annual George Allan Memorial seven-a-side football festival for local Primary schools at Prestonfield on Sunday.

Budding footballers from schools in Linlithgow were joined by pupils from Deanburn and Grange in Bo’ness in the 24th staging of the
popular event.

In the developmental Reston League at the Social Club end, Bayern Springfield (green and black strips) won the George Allan shield beating their school counterparts Borussia Springfield 1-0 in the final.

In the more advanced Gallagher League at the Academy end, the Falcons team from Linlithgow Primary School and Athletico from Springfield emerged at the top of a closely contested section and met each other in the final.

Falcons (blue and white strips) scored through a penalty early on and the score stayed at 1-0 to take the George Allan Trophy back to the Preston Road school.

Special award winners in the Reston League were Logan Forbes and Cameron Walker from Springfield and in the Gallagher League, Emily Earsman and Kai Whyte from Linlithgow.

Football festival organiser, Murdoch Kennedy, thanked the hosts, Linlithgow Rose FC and everyone else who had made the event another great success.
