More than 60 competitors from six nations met in Queensferry last weekend to compete in the bi-annual Celtic Challenge.
Veteran fencers (over 40) from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany, Galicia and Asturias in Spain took part in two days of competition, competing in the foil, sabre and epee disciplines for both women and men.
And at the end of play at Queensferry High School, it was Scotland who were victorious and lifted the coveted ‘Black Dragon’’ trophy for the first time in its 10 year history.
Our photographs show Queensferry woman Karen Grant who finished sixth in the epee with fellow Scot Marie Steele, of Dunfermline, who finished second in the foil. Both compete for West Fife Fencing Club in Dunfermline.
Karen, one of the host team organisers said: ‘‘We are absolutely delighted with the result.’’
