VOLLEYBALL at Queensferry continues to prove successful with no less than four teams competing for Scottish titles this season.
The City of Edinburgh squads, which train at Queensferry High School, took part in the Scottish finals at Wishaw Sports Centre last Sunday.
The mens squad lost out to City of Glasgow Ragazzi while the womens squad compete were also beaten by Troon, Prestwick and Ayr.
In the under 19 junior national league play-offs, the boys won over three sets against Marr College while the girls play North Lanarkshire Ragazzi won by two sets to love.
Club chairperson Hugh Murphy said: “It is rewarding at a time when criticism is often levelled at young people for being inactive to see so many not only participating in sport but being successful at a high standard. Volleyball is a wonderful social sport and the City of Edinburgh Club, with members drawn mainly from the Queensferry and surrounding area, has seen a number of young players progress into coaching sport and also on to international honours.”
The club now has more than 80 members, ranging from five years to adult and it is actively looking to recruit new members from all age groups. Coaching take place on various days of the week, from under nines to 13 years, under 16s, under 19s to first team.
The club is also keen to hear from anyone willing to offer sponsorship for the club.
