This summer’s Party at the Palace could be under threat – with only one possible weekend date now remaining available for the event.

John Richardson, of event organisers PDF Productions, told the Gazette this week that the only date that would now work – and is available from the Peel’s owners, Historic Scotland – is the weekend of August 9 and 10.

Unfortunately, two of the proposed headlining acts, Del Amitri and Big Country, are believed to have other commitments.

However, confusion still surrounds the event.

The organisers said they were waiting on Historic Scotland to confirm the dates.

And, in turn, Historic Scotland said it was waiting on the organisers to make a formal application, including the outcome of consultations with local groups, emergency services and the council.

Regardless of who is responsible for the delay, it is certain that, to pull off what would be one of Scotland’s major music festivals this year, will take a huge commitment from everyone.
