A Linlithgow singer will take the stage in the next concert organised by the town’s arts guild.
There will be an evening of song at St. Michaels’ RC Church tomorrow (Saturday) when Maddy Kearns and friends perform a wide-ranging
selection of songs from shows and opera plus classical arrangements of folk and Scottish songs.
Maddy is currently studying at St Andrews University and hopes to go on to post graduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow to complete her training in singing, and opera in particular.
She has previously taken lead roles on stage and has performed on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
She will be joined by Laurie Slavin, who sings with a university group “The Other Guys”.
Laurie has sung numerous roles in opera, and will be starting post graduate studies at London’s Guildhall School of Music.
Both are also regular choral singers.
They will be accompanied by concert pianist Douglas Holligan.
The attractive and varied programme includes items from “Cabaret” and ‘‘Phantom of the Opera’’, the Flower Duet from Lakme, items from Mozart’s ‘‘Magic Flute’’ and ‘‘The Marriage of Figaro’’, arias by Delius, Bach and Humperdinck, a Spiritual, some well known Burns songs, “Danny Boy” and other traditional melodies, some church music and items from The Beatles and Disney.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and entry is free of charge.
There will be a retiring collection for a charitable educational project in Uganda.
