The Linlithgow ladies and Linlithgow RFC male voice choirs are putting the final touches to their impressive songsheet as they get ready to sing for cancer funding.
The local singers will be taking part in a Scottish Festival of Brass and Voices at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Saturday November 16, alongside choirs from Scotland and North England, including the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band, in a wonderful programme of choral and brass band favourites.
The festival is one of a series that has produced vital funds for Cancer Research UK, and this will be the first time it will be produced in Scotland. Last year, the local choirs performed at the festival, which was held at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
Gill Ferguson, chairwoman of the ladies’ choir, said: “Performing at the Royal Albert Hall was brilliant and we’re looking forward just as much to performing in one of Scotland’s prestigious venues.”
Chris Thomas, chairman of the male voice choir added: “We have been putting in the hours to be ready and we’re delighted to be singing again in support of such an important charity”.
To date, the Festival of Brass and Voices events have raised over £400,000 for Cancer Research UK. Tickets for the festival are available at www.usherhall.co.uk or by telephoning 0131 228 1155.
