Lin Gin directors Ross and Alyson Jamieson are delighted to be playing their part in this year's celebration of Mary Pickford at HippFest.

HippFest kicked off online this week and tomorrow (Saturday) film archivisit Jenny Hammerton will star in Mary Pickford’s Silver Screen Supper at 11am.

Jenny, who is based in London, first teamed up with HippFest in 2015 when she attended in person to host a movie stars’ canape workshop.

For the last 20 years she’s collected more than 8000 recipes from movie stars, mostly those who found fame from 1910 to 1950.

Jenny will be rustling up Mary's enchilada recipe this Saturday.

She loves trying them out and for the last 15 years has shared them with fans of her blog at

Among her treasures is one of Mary Pickford’s favourite s, enchiladas, and Jenny will be taking viewers through that recipe tomorrow morning.

The ingredients are available on her website now.

She has also created a special cocktail for the occasion, HippFest Sparrow, using a bottle of Lin Gin from the Linlit hgow distiller.

Jenny will be tuning in with her partner Jai – enjoying their own wee celebration.

She explained: “We got married on March 20 last year so it’s our first wedding anniversary.

"We’ll be celebrating by watching all the films, enjoying our enchiladas and a wee Lin Gin cocktail or two!”

Lin Gin directors Ross and Alyson Jamieson are delighted that it will be featured in the show.

However, they have also created their own cocktail – the Fifth Mary – the ingredients for which can be found on HippFest’s social media platforms.

Alyson said: “In 2019, we developed four flavoured gins based on the characters of the Four Marys – Mary Queen of Scots ladies in waiting – each with their own distinct character.

"We thought it would be nice to toast Mary Pickford, using the subtly spiced Four Marys Gin.”

It’s been a tough year for Alyson and Ross, who founded Lin Gin in 2017 and produced their first bottle in 2018. Last year they stopped distilling their iconic gin and instead made hand s anitiser t o fill a gap in the market.

However, they are now back doing what they do best and delighted to finally be taking part in HippFest.

Alyson added: “We were supposed to be doing a tasting after the Mary Queen of Scots film last year. That never happ ened, of course.

"So we’re delighted to be taking part this year, creating a unique cocktail for the festival. We’ll be tuning in at the weekend and enjoying a wee cocktail or two – it would be rude not to!”

During HippFest, festival-goers can enjoy a 15 per cent discount on a full bottle of gin in the shop or at
