Thomas Cuthell & Sons collected the cash for foodbanks through its remembrance event which was streamed on its website in January this year due to restrictions. The money was given to Bo'ness Storehouse Foodbank, Falkirk Foodbank and the St Vincent de Paul foodbank.

Director Alistair Cuthell said: "We were quite overwhelmed with the response this year especially as we have to change the format to being completely online.

"We pre-recorded a 49 minute service that people could watch on our website. We had a harpist and the stars were placed on the tree. We weren't sure how it would work as we had to change the format but it went well."

Alistair said that donations were up on previous years and the online service had been well received by those who had recently lost a loved one.

He added: "The service helps people know that they are not alone in going through the bereavement process and be part of a shared process in terms of going through difficult times."

The service can still be viewed online at the Thomas Cuthell & Sons website under the news section.
