Coronavirus cases treble in Forth Valley as government recommends events ban

Official figures released by the Scottish Government state the total number in the region has risen from two to six.

A total of 2892 Scottish tests have been concluded and, of these, 2832 tests were confirmed negative.

There have now been 60 cases confirmed in Scotland - a rise of 24 from Wednesday.

The latest coronavirus case numbers for Scottish health boards are:

Ayrshire and Arran - 4

Borders - 2

Fife - 3

Forth Valley - 6

Grampian - 7

Lanarkshire - 7

Lothian - 11

Shetland - 6

Tayside - 4

The update comes as the Scottish Government advised public gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from next week.

The aim is to free up emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, to deal with COVID-19.
