Falkirk Council will keep education hubs open over Easter holidays

The Scottish Government said that keeping hubs open will help support key workers in the NHS and other key sectors on the frontline of the response to coronavirus.In Falkirk, ten facilities will be open for critical workers’ children over the Easter break – three early learning centres will provide for the under-threes and a further seven primary schools will also be used as hubs.Parents and carers have been contacted to tell them the arrangements that have been made.Robert Naylor, director of Children’s Services for Falkirk Council said: “It has been a massive effort involving hundreds of people in education and we’d like to say a huge thank you for everyone involved in getting us to where we are and for providing ongoing support for our children and young people throughout this really difficult time.“It really has seen the best in people working together for a common goal.”Education Secretary John Swinney also thanked the staff in education and childcare who are working so hard to deliver this service.He said: “Clearly these are unprecedented times and this will be a very different Easter holiday period for teachers and pupils across the country. I would like to thank all of those who have volunteered to provide support over this time.“Our key workers are on the frontline of the response to coronavirus and it’s only right that we do everything we possibly can to support them.“By keeping learning and childcare hubs open in our local authorities, we can make sure children are safe and well looked-after while their parents are doing critical jobs helping our communities.”
