More Covid-19 care home deaths in Falkirk district

This is an increase of eight in the last week.

According to this week’s figures from the National Records of Scotland, across Forth Valley there have been 203 deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic, a rise of 16 in the last seven days.

In Falkirk district the majority of deaths have taken place in care homes – currently 56 with four in the past week; 12 have been at home, an increase of two; and 43 in hospital, a rise of two.

Testing of suspected cases of coronavirus continues to take place and the latest figures show that there have been 894 positive cases in Forth Valley.

This was a rise of 11 overnight.

However, the number of patients being treated in hospital now stands at 15, a drop of four.

There are less than five people in Forth Valley Royal Hospital’s intensive care unit – the Scottish Government does not release the figure if it is below five.

A total of 92,594 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs. Of these, 77,843 were confirmed negative and 14,751 were positive. The positive rate is around 16 per cent of all tests and is a drop from 25 per cent several days ago.

Latest figures show that on Tuesday there were 3699 tests carried out by NHS Scotland in hospitals, care homes or the community, making a total of 131,235 COVID-19 tests through NHS labs to date.

In addition, there were 2653 drive through and mobile tests carried out by the Regional Testing Centres in Scotland bringing the total to 43,393 tests to date.
